Niagra Falls Maid of the Mist

Having our grandson with us led to big plans for our Niagara Falls second day.  Even after our fun evening, we got up early and had breakfast at the Hampton Inn. Then we went to the falls. I had purchased tickets for us to go on the Maid of the Mist online several days earlier.  The Niagara Falls Maid of the Mist is a boat that take you to the base of the falls. We had seen it on past trips but had never ridden it.

If you look closely, you can see the boat moving toward the falls. To get to the boat you must walk out on a platform to an elevator, which will take you to the river level and the boat dock.  

Once you are at the river level you can get your plastic raincoat to keep you dry and then move to the boat dock.

After getting you raincoat and getting aboard the boat you move out toward the falls.

The boat take you into the mist of the falls. The water and wind from falls was such that i quit taking pictures at one point. There is no need to worry about the water because you have the raincoats. So just enjoy the adventure.

Upon your return to the boat dock you can choose to climb rock steps up to an overlook called the crows nest.

If you go on the Niagara Falls Maid of the Mist you will have a great time and you will get wet.

Just think of what it would be like if you didn’t have the raincoat. By the way you get to keep the raincoat if you want to.

Exploring Niagara Falls

Exploring Niagara Falls with our grandson was great. Fall is a great time to travel in the northern states and even more so if you can get in upper New York and new England. We drove all day and got there with some time to spend looking at the falls before night.

We looked around the area closes to the park entrance. My wife and I had been to Niagara Falls before but it was our grandson’s first time to see the falls and he really enjoyed it. It’s fun exploring Niagara Falls even at the park entrance with a lot to see and do. Having traveled all day, we were all hungry and looking for a restaurant.

We soon found one that we thought everyone would enjoy.

Some of us enjoyed it more than others. The Hard Rock Cafe at Niagara Falls played a lot of older songs that I enjoyed and my grandson did not know. The food was good like it is at all Hard Rocks. I was told the desserts were really good.

After a good meal we went back across the street for more exploring Niagara Falls at night. 

AS great as it is to see the falls in the light of day, the night is a must see. The falls are lit up and it adds magic to the view. After the long drive, the good meal and the night views, we went back to the hotel. The Hampton Inn Niagara Falls was a great place to stay rooms were clean and the free breakfast was good. Just a note there are two Hampton Inns be sure to get the one near the falls.  We went to sleep fast because we knew the next day, we would be busy exploring Niagara Falls.
