Lake George, New York

Lake George, New York

Lake George, New York is one of the most beautiful places that I have ever visited.  The lake is 32 miles long and 3 miles wide at the widest point. Everything that you can think to do on water can be found there. Boat rides of all types from floating Tiki Hut to dinner cruise on a steam ship are offered on the lake as well as boat rentals, jet skies, sail boats, paddling, parasailing, diving and beaches. As person who enjoys history I need to add that the diving sites include ship wrecks some date back to the 1750’s.

The waters of the lake follow a wooded shore line and tall mountains filled with history. Three major battles took place at Lake George New York. The first was the battle of Lake George which was an English victory which gave the lake it’s name. The next two were battles involving Fort William Henry, with the most famous being the one in the story “The Last of the Mohicans”.

We were lucky to find a home to stay in on the mountain near Bolton Landing. We found the home through Vacation Rentals By Owners. I will write more about the house later, but it gave us a great view of the lake and was a great place to sit in the morning and drink coffee.

As for food both Lake George and Bolton Landing have a lot to offer. At Lake George we enjoyed place with a view of the lake, while Bolton Landing reminded us more of Siesta Key sitting in open air by the street.

What ever you are looking for in a vacation can be found at Lake George, New York.

UK Football Defeats EKU

This past Saturday we went to the UK Football Homecoming at the newly remodeled Commonwealth Stadium.  Before going to the game, we stopped to eat at Chili’s.  The restaurant is just off Man O War and Nicholasville road in Lexington, Kentucky.  This was the first time I have eaten at a Chili’s in several years.

I ordered the beef fajita and my daughter ordered the beef and shrimp fajita.  Both orders of fajitas were good.  The part of the meal that I enjoyed the most was the flavor of the beef.  Whatever the combination of spice and seasoning, Chili’s has really hit the mark.

My wife ordered the Margarita Chicken Bowl.  This entrée  is composed of a grilled chicken breast top with a pico de gallo and crisp tortilla strips.  All of this rest upon citrus rice and black beans.

After the good meal, we made our way to Commonwealth Stadium to watch the Wildcats.  The first half of the game ended with the CATS up by one point.  The CATS did not look like the same team we saw last week that knocked off a nationally ranked opponent.

I think that the Wildcats saw this as an easy win and were not up for the game.  EKU on the other hand had come to play football.  I just knew that the UK coaching staff would get the team’s attention at half time and we would see a different game in the third quarter.

I was right but I had the teams mixed up.  EKU came out and scored, taking a 13 to 7 lead on the Wildcats.  Kentucky quickly answered with six points to tie the game and I thought all is well.  EKU by this time had figured out that they could win this game. The Colonels scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to take a 27 – 13 lead.

With 7:39 remaining in the game when EKU scored the second touchdown, things did not look good for the Wildcats. UK used only about two and a half minutes to move the ball down the field to score a touchdown to bring the score to 27 – 20.  The two teams fought until UK was able to score again with less than a minute to go.

Tied at 27 the teams went into overtime.  UK got the ball first and was able to score bringing the score to 34-27 UK.  The Colonels failed to score during their turn, giving the wildcats their fourth win of the season.
