Drunken Jack's

Drunken Jack’s

One of my favorite restaurants in the Myrtle Beach area is Drunken Jack’s. The restaurant is located at 4031 Highway 17 Murrell’s Inlet. We have been going to Drunken Jack’s for more than twenty years. Over that time I have seen the restaurant grow and change with the times.

I must say that the one thing that has never changed is the great food. The seafood is my main reason for going there. The combo platters are great.

When I have been at the beach for several days, I will change to beef. I love Drunken Jacks prime rib. I did not get a photo of it on this trip but some of the crew did order a couple of steaks.

Steak and fries

The meals all come with a salad bar and your choice of baked potato, fries, rice or vegetables.

I ask to be seated by a window if possible because of the nice view of the inlet.

Something that has taken place of the years and I feel will continue to grow is a walkway around the inlet. We enjoyed the walk after our meal.

The walkway connects to other restaurants around the Inlet. We liked the way the restaurants have live music and areas where you can stop and listen to the performers.

I would suggest going early because they are always busy, enjoy your meal then walk around the inlet. We visit several places to listen to the music.

Malone’s Steak House at Hamburg

Before going to the University of Kentucky football game, my daughter and I went to Malone’s Steak House for a good meal.  As we do most of the time, we went to the Malone’s at Hamburg.  The address is 1920 Pleasant Ridge Drive, Lexington.  It has a great environment and the staff and management are always friendly and informative.  We started the meal with one of my favorite appetizers, fried Calamari.

The Sweet-n-Spicy Calamari as it is listed on the menu, is made up of calamari, red peppers and banana pepper fried with a lite batter. Malone’s serves them with a sweet and spicy chili sauce.

For our meals we both decided to have the twin filets which come with hot bread a bottomless Lexingtonian salad and one side item. I ordered my filets with a Kentucky Bourbon BBQ sauce and Crispy Onions.  It was one of the best steaks that I have ever eaten.  On my last visit to Malone’s I had the twin filets with Rockefeller Au Gratin.  The Bourbon BBQ is by far the better choice in my opinion.

My daughter ordered the Twin Filets with Blue Cheese Au Gratin.  The Filets were served with the crusted Blue Cheese on the top of them.

Both of our orders were cooked to Medium Rare as ordered.  The steaks were as always, tender and juicy.  For one of the best steaks in Lexington you must go the Malone’s Steak House.
