The Greenbrier Restaurant is not a place you drive by and decide to stop. Instead it is located at 370 Newman Road, the Restaurant is a destination. On our trip back to Gatlinburg and Treetops Resort, we decided to eat at the Greenbrier.
We loved the location of the restaurant the design and the staff but it is the food that will bring you back. As you enter you see information about the food offered and specials.
The Greenbrier starts your meal with Spoon Bread, which is like a corn bread. It came in a hot pan with a nice scoop of butter on top of it. The bread was a little undercooked I thought but it was good and came with a spoon to dip it out so the texture may have been as planned.
For starters we decided to try the Cheese Board. After eating the Cheese Board or at least most of it we both agree that it would be nice to come back after a light meal and have it again while enjoying the restaurant’s ambiance.
In addition to the grilled bread and cheese, we received our salads.
The salads were good. Had the rest of the food been less I would have talked more about the salads. Finally for my meal I ordered Pork with a berry sauce off of the specials menu. My side was the Herb Smashed Potatoes.
Both of these were really good. The Pork was cooked just right meaning done but not dry. Herb Smashed Potatoes were however unbelievable good. My wife ordered the Salmon with a side of Asparagus.
The Greenbrier Restaurant is a great place to eat. Food is great and the atmosphere is wonderful.
If you can find this hidden treasure in mountains around Gatlinburg, you certainly have to give it a try. We recommend getting there early enough to be able to enjoy meal but allowing time take advantage of Walker’s Union and the fire pit afterward.
